| How to get
there... |
| The Racecourse is easy accessible just
off the A483 Wrexham by pass and this is linked by the A5 if approaching
from the south and by the M56 and then the M53 if travelling from the
north of the country. If travelling by train then Wrexham General is
located next to the ground with the station served by the main Chester -
Birmingham line and there is also and hourly service with Liverpool. |
| Travelling from the North: Follow
the M56 towards Chester leaving at junction 15 to join the M53
southbound. After a few miles the M53 becomes the A55 and leave this
road at the junction with the A483 turning left towards Wrexham. Leave
the A483 at the junction with the A541 and turn left at the roundabout
and then straight over the next and the ground will be ahead of you on
your left hand side. |
| Travelling from the South: Follow
the M54 and then the A5 past Shrewsbury and Oswestry and pick up the
A483 towards Wrexham. Leave the A483 at the junction with the A541 and
turn right at the roundabout and then straight over the next and the
ground will be ahead of you on your left hand side. |
| Speed Cameras: It is common to
find an Arrive Alive van or police cars patrolling the A483 and A5, so
watch your speed on your approach to Wrexham. There is also a fixed
camera located on Mold Road as you approach the Racecourse. |
| Travelling by Train: The
nearest train station is Wrexham General, which is no more than a
two-minute walk from the ground. Turn right out of the station and climb
the steps before turning right and heading back over the bridge and
towards the ground. The two centre is only a five minute walk and is
found by turning left out of the station car park and following the road
through two sets of lights and you will be in the town centre. If you
want to find. Follow

| Travelling by Bus: Wrexham Bus
Station is only a five minute walk from the ground and is found by walking
towards the multi storey car park and turn right at to the end of
this road. Then walk through the set of lights and the ground will be ahead
of you just past Wrexham General Train Station after just under a mile. For enquiries call 01978

| Where to
park... |
| Official Club Car Park: This car
park situated at the back of the Sainsburys Stand and is only available
to permit holders, officials and guests on match days. The only
exception is for Reserve Matches and Premier Cup games with small
attendances. |
| NEWI Car Park: Situated
directly behind the away end at a cost of £2.00. The car park entrance
is on your left just before your reach the football ground. |
| Local Car Park: Located opposite
to the entrance to the NEWI Car Park just before the Shell Garage. This
also costs £2 and you will be on the right side of the road after the
game. |
| Plas Coch Retail Park: Is
no more that a five-minute walk away from the ground. Turn left at the
second roundabout and left again at the next one. At the next roundabout
Home Base is on the left and Sainsburys is straight on - it is normal
for a security guard to be on patrol on match days, so you may get
turned away. The Plas Coch pub is on your right, along with ALDI's and
other outlets. Parking is normally free with no restrictions except for
ALDI's as they operate a clamping policy. It does get busy after the
match, so prepare yourself for a 10-15 minute delay, especially with
attendances over 4,000 and with a large away following. |
| Berse Road Retail Park:
Located by turning right at the second roundabout and right again into
the complex. Avoid this as the B&Q site is operating a maximum stay of
two hours and fans have already ending up with costly parking tickets. |
| New Local Car Park: Located just
after the ground beyond the Vauxhall car dealership the entrance is on
your right just before the railway bridge. |
| Central Retail Park: Located just
after the train station but this operates a time restriction policy. |
| Street Parking: Street parking is
normally restricted to local residents by Police on match days. However,
try the road junction on the right just after The Turf but this does
fill up very early. There are also spaces past the ground down Crispin
Lane but you will have to arrive early for a space. |
| Where to
drink... |
| There are plenty of pubs around the
ground and with the town centre within five minutes you will not have to
travel far to find your next pint. |
| The Turf: Right next to the Kop
and is mainly used by home supporters. However, it does let in away
supporters in small numbers. It gets very busy in the hour leading up to
kick off, so arrive early. |
| Centenary Club: The Official
Supporters Club has use of the Centenary Club on matchdays and this is
located behind the Sainsburys Stand with the entrance off the club car
park. |
| Plas Coch: The Plas Coch Retail
Park has a pub and is normally a favourite for away supporters. |
| Railway: If you walk down to the
end of Crispin Lane past the ground and at the junction you turn left
and then almost immediately right you will find the Railway at the end
of this road. |
| The Lager Club: Walk past the
station towards the town centre and the lager club is located opposite
the post office depot with the entrance located at the end of offices.
It is also the home of the Supporters Trust and Shropshire Reds on
matchdays. |
| Town Centre: To find it walk down
Mold Road into the town centre and it is the first pub on your left hand
side. If you continue into the town centre McDonalds will be on your
left and the next pub you reach is The Horse and Jockey and opposite
that under the archway is a good chip shop. There are a more pubs on
High Street and to find them continue pass the Horse and Jockey, passing
Burger King on your left, and High Street is the junction with Burtons. |
| Places to Eat: If you want a meal
with your pint then the bets pubs lose to the ground are the Plas Coch
and Weatherspoons. There is also a Frankie and bennies further down on
the Plas Coch retail park and a Pizza Hut is located directly behind the
lager Club on the Central Retail Park. |
| Cash Machines: The nearest is at
the Shell Garage by the Racecourse but this does charge for withdrawals.
Elsewhere you will find machines at Sainsburys and Boots on the Plas
Coch Retail Park with a HSBC located just past the Wetherspoons pub on
the opposite side of the road. |
| Petrol Stations: There is a Shell
garage outside the Racecourse and a Sainsburys on the Plas Coch Retail
Park. |

| Away
supporters... |
| Away supporters are housed behind one
goal in the Eric Roberts Builders Stand formally called the Marstons
Stand. In preparation for the 1999 Rugby World
Cup the stand was developed into an all seater with new concrete relayed
to allow a better view. The top tier of the stand has just over 2,000
seats and a further 1,000 is available in the bottom tier if demand
requires it. The top tier has a couple of pillars which may restrict the
viewing of some seats. If the travelling support exceeds the capacity of
the away end the club has made available in the past part of The Pryce
Griffiths Stand and the Mold End of the Sainsburys Lower Stand.
Refreshments kiosks are available in both tiers but unfortunately the
toilets were not included as part of the redevelopment and have been
described in one book as a scene out of Apocalypse Now (only the rivers
look less clean in the film); you have been warned! |
| Disabled
facilities... |
| Wrexham have 45 disabled places
available at the front of the Pryce Griffiths Stand. There are 22
parking spaces and two disabled toilets with dedicated refreshment
kiosks. Admission is £10 for the disabled supporter (£5 concessions) and
the helper admitted free. The DSA is Tony Millington and he can be
contacted at The Racecourse on
01978 262129. |
