Karl Connolly [28Kb]

Friday 6 December 1997

Anchorman: ...13 per cent. So well done to Connolly, outstanding display. He's with Alan Bentley

AB: Karl, the first thing is you came off just before the end. What was the problem?

KC: I've, er, done my ankle in about a couple of weeks ago. I just went over on it again. So they said not to chance it like. There was only a couple of minutes left, so.

AB: Now there seemed to be a lot of passion out there on the terraces. What was it like on the field?

KC: Oh, it's, it's like a derby game. You know it's like Wales and England, but it's passion innit? Tactics just go out of the window, innit, it's just who wants it the most

AB: Here you are, the Englishman putting the English side out. How does it feel?

KC: Well, it's not nice like, but I play for Wrexham so I'm Welsh now, so

AB: Now the crucial thing is, is last season the Cup success seemed to have a knock-on effect, a detrimental effect on the League. Can you keep the League form going?

KC: Well hopefully like, we've gone 13 games now unbeaten, so we've just to carry on, take each game as it comes like hopefully

AB: There you were a few years ago playing Sunday league football. Now you're in the most famous cup competition in the world. You must be delighted?

KC: Yeh, me first FA Cup was Arsenal, that was the big one like, so hopefully I've got a few more to come.

AB: Well, well done tonight and you're our Littlewoods Man of the Match. Well done Karl.

KC: Cheers, thanks a lot

Anchorman: And not a flash-in-the-pan tonight from Connolly, that's nine for the season, he is Wrexham's top scorer.
