Division 2 Preview by Daniel Jennings

BLACKPOOL
Last season: Last season was no surprise as Blackpool languished in mid-table. They were always safe but not as close to the play-offs as in past seasons. This season: Expect much of the same, maybe a bit closer to the relegation zone this time around. Key man: Brett Ormerod Finish last season: 14th Prediction: 20th

BOURNEMOUTH
Last season: Their best for years, only missing out on the play-offs on the last day of the season. This season: If they keep banging in the goals they should achieve the play-offs this time around. Key man: Mark Stein Finish last season: 7th Prediction: 4th

BRENTFORD
Last season: Brentford lived up to their expectations and won the Third Division as favourites when they came on strong in the second half of the season. This season: They've only been out of this division for one season and nearly got into the First Division two seasons ago. A mid-table finish will give hope for the future. Key man: Lloyd Owusu Finish last season: 1st (Div 3) Prediction: 18th

BRISTOL CITY
Last season: After achieving their goal of promotion to Division One they found it tough going and came straight back down, propping up the table for the majority of the season. This season: If they hang onto their players they should go straight back up. Key man: Ade Akinbiyi Finish last season: 24th (Div 1) Prediction: 3rd

BRISTOL ROVERS
Last season: A big disappointment after the previous season. They came a lot closer to relegation than promotion and the play-offs never seemed a realistic possibility. This season: Who knows? They are one of the unpredictable teams in the division. With the division getting more and more difficult they might struggle but should survive. Key man: Jamie Cureton.  Finish last season: 13th Prediction: 19th

BURNLEY
Last season: They looked to be struggling at the bottom of the table for much of the season but finished well clear of the drop. This season: With their loyal fans behind them they must surely come good one season. With the team they currently have this could be their best chance. Key man: Steve Davis Finish last season: 15th Prediction: 9th

BURY
Last season: Involved in the Division One relegation battle throughout the season but only went down on the last day. This season: After being possibly the worst team to ever get automatic promotion from Division Two they will find it very hard going. Key man: Ian Lawson Finish last season: 22nd (Div 1) Prediction: 14th

CAMBRIDGE UNITED
Last season: Took place in the three horse race for the Division Three title and were unlucky to only finish second. This season: They will face a new challenge that will be too much for them. Key man: Martin Butler Finish last season: 2nd (Div 3) Prediction: 23rd

CARDIFF CITY
Last season: Topped the Division Three table for a very long spell but faded away towards the end. This season: They can't afford to fade away like last season and that could well be their downfall. Key man: Jason Fowler Finish last season: 3rd (Div 3) Prediction: 17th

CHESTERFIELD
Last season: Very hard to score past but found it very hard to score themselves. In the play-off race in the early part of the season. This season: Their lack of firepower will once more deny them a play-off place. Key man: Billy Mercer Finish last season: 9th Prediction: 8th

COLCHESTER UNITED
Last season: Started off brightly but ended up struggling. Conceded far too many goals from start to finish. This season: Will probably struggle as much, if not more, and might not survive unless they strengthen their defence. Key man: David Gregory Finish last season: 18th Prediction: 22nd

GILLINGHAM
Last season: The unluckiest team on the planet apart from Bayern Munich. They were two-nil up in the play-off final with one minute to go and ended up losing on penalties. This season: Should make the play-offs again and might even go one better. Key man: Carl Asaba Finish last season: 4th Prediction: 5th

LUTON TOWN
Last season: Their mid-table finish was welcome relief after coming extremely close to relegation the previous season. This season: Mid-table again. Key man: Stuart Douglas Finish last season: 12th Prediction: 16th

MILLWALL
Last season: Finished surprisingly high although they always looked unlikely to push for the play-offs. This season: Might not be able to maintain their high league position. Key man: Stuart Nethercott
Finish last season: 10th Prediction: 15th

NOTTS COUNTY
Last season: Finished strongly in the run-in to reach safety. This season: Will struggle again and might not be able to repeat the strong run-in. Key man: Darren Ward Finish last season: 16th Prediction: 21st

OLDHAM ATHLETIC
Last season: With two games to go, the Latics were in a situation where they had to win both. They did and stayed up on the last day. This season: Could well be the shock team in Division Two. A good outside bet for the play-offs. Key man: Junior Agogo Finish last season: 20th Prediction: 6th

OXFORD UNITED
Last season: Returned to Division Two after a tough season at the bottom of Division One. This season: Might make the play-offs but will not immediately regain their First Division status. Key man: Paul Tait
Finish last season: 23rd (Div 1) Prediction: 11th

PRESTON NORTH END
Last season: Occupied the second automatic promotion places for most of the season but narrowly missed out to Walsall. This season: With a further strengthened squad should be able to push for automatic promotion once more. Key man: Lee Cartwright Finish last season: 5th Prediction: 1st

READING
Last season: Started off atrociously but improved after November. This season: Should be able to launch an attack on the play-offs in a bid to reinstate their First Division status. Key man: Jason Bowen
Finish last season: 11th Prediction: 13th

SCUNTHORPE UNITED
Last season: Only just missed out on automatic promotion and won the play-offs beating Swansea in the semi-final and Leyton Orient in the final. This season: After playing some neat, attractive football to get into this division, they might well be a surprise package. Key man: Calvo-Garcia Finish last season: 4th (Div 3) Prediction: 7th

STOKE CITY
Last season: Looked set to run away with the Second Division Championship but a horrendous drop in form saw them miss out on even the play-offs by a mile. This season: Under a new manager the fans might calm down a bit and give them a chance. If they fail to perform the fans will be on their back once more. Key man: Gavin Ward
Finish last season: 8th Prediction: 12th

WIGAN ATHLETIC
Last season: Looked the best team in the division after Christmas. Scraped into the play-offs on the last day before being knocked out by Man. City. This season: If they play as well as they played in the tail end of last season they will be one of the most feared teams in the division. Key man: Stuart Barlow Finish last season: 6th Prediction: 2nd

WREXHAM
Last season: Failed to live up to the reputation they had made for themselves after the three previous seasons and only just managed to stay in the division. This season: With a lot of new faces in the squad they should do much better than last season but still not as well as in previous campaigns. Key man: Karl Connolly Finish last season: 17th Prediction: 10th

WYCOMBE WANDERERS
Last season: Came very close to the drop again but did well to recover after being bottom in the early part of the season. This season: They will be right down there again but might not stay up. Key man: Sean Devine Finish last season: 19th Prediction: 24th
