The World According To

Robert GRESFORD Davies
Living in the Peak District means travelling to North Wales, plus admission charges, the
cost of the programme, and the best value of all: Red Passion still only one
pound. Its cheaper by far to tune into Radio Wales: sometimes loud and clear, but
often affected by atmosphere pressure (or something!)
At thrill-a-minute matches lively commentators are no substitute for the real thing. On the other hand, not even the best of commentators could make the 1999 Welsh Premier Cup final sound interesting. With £100,000 at stake Id innocently assumed there would be some sherry in the trifle. What a drab affair! It faded just like Radio Wales does in the Peak District - and eventually just petered out. But then I suppose it was only £100,000!!
So Radio Wales is one way of an exile keeping in touch - and much cheaper. My longing to see the Reds still brings me monthly to the Racecourse and takes me to away games within striking distance of home. The Wrexham supporters motto surely must be: Hope springs eternal.
