KING  CARL

Before anybody else asks: Yes, it was me in Cork! I admit that my self-control deserted me in the end and when the police were called out they thought I might be about to stick one on Flynn. I still maintain that I was right. It was garbage that we paid to watch and I think a lot of the players thought so too - even if they didn't say so. A few of them bought me drinks afterwards and Craig Faulconbridge called me 'Psycho'. But I've calmed down now. Well, a bit.

Another disaster at Gillingham. The day didn't start off too well when I discovered I had a transport problem and had to have a last-minute change of plan. We didn't get away until late morning because of that and after a long drive I only had time for a quick drink at ten to three around the corner from the ground. The dog and bone will have to wait until next year. I've actually started to record the mileage I do travelling to away matches again. I did it a couple of seasons ago and came up with a figure of 8,000 miles! With trips to Colchester. Aberystwyth and Gillingham recently I did 1,200 miles in one week in early October. I'm not saying I'm Wrexham's no.1 supporter. Far from it. I've missed six games in the last 13 years - which isn't bad I suppose. But that's nothing compared to Geraint Parry who hasn't missed a game in 11 years. And there aren't many fans who can say that.

I wasn't surprised by the Gillingham result. We got a right hammering there last year but at least we managed to score this time. I've said all along that anything above relegation this season will be a bonus for us - and I'm sticking to that. Mind you, I hope I'm proved wrong, but I can't see it myself. I don't reckon that we're a good side at the moment. For me it all went wrong when Marriott left. He was class. I'm not having a go at Dearden. I think he's alright - a solid sort of player - but something niggles away at me about him. I don't quite know what it is yet.

We could do with Waynne Phillips coming back. He didn't start the season too well but that's what comes of training with YTS lads like he did at Stockport. He was told that he didn't have a future there but I'm happy to see him back. He never moved away and he's 100 per cent Wrexham.

Going back to Marriott, I think it was Flynn's fault that he left. I've got nothing personal against Flynn - he's done well for the club if you think where we were when he came - but I think he's taken Wrexham as far as he can. To get anywhere I think we need some big money from outside - from somewhere like Redrow or Sharp - and a manager with a bit more ambition. I said I would have liked to see Mark Hughes here but obviously that's not going to happen now. Flynn's job is safe though. There's talk of him just moving upstairs when he finishes with managing - but the club would still be paying him and would need to pay for a new manager as well. With the club apparently losing money on gate receipts, where is that sort of money going to come from? I'm not knocking Pryce Griffiths when I keep on about money - Pryce is Wrexham through and through - and we wouldn't have a club now without him. Some of the other Board members I haven't got any time for at all - and those of you who know me will know who I mean. I think the club could do with a bit of a shake-up in certain areas such as its PR - which is appalling - and its attitude towards people who have given long service to the club for no reward.

Enough of my moaning. The new stand is looking well, even though I haven't tried it yet. I still sit in the Centenary Box. The 'X' in 'WREXHAM' does look a bit strange though - split by a gangway. 'WREXHAM FC' might have looked better. I'm hoping to see a few more people in the ground, but that will only come with better results. It all comes back to the team's performance. By the time I write again maybe I'll have something more positive to say. I certainly hope so. O'Neills is calling me now…
