The World According to Robert Gresford Davies

Robert GRESFORD Davies

I should have gone to the information centre or approached a police officer, but instead I boldly walked into the Wrexham Leader headquarters on King Street to ask the question: “Do you know the whereabouts of the Wrexham Mail offices?” After some initial hesitation I was told hesitantly: “We believe they are on Egerton Street”. I thought it was interesting that the receptionist in the Leader offices was so reluctant to admit to the existence of a ‘rival’ paper. Nevertheless this strange response sent me smiling away. “We believe…”

Twenty years ago the Wrexham song echoed fervent belief in a team taking on allcomers. Only weeks ago, however, after the match against Kettering, our belief in the team was not so convincing. Let’s hope that the non-leaguers provided just the jolt the Reds needed to get back to winning ways, to restore belief in themselves, and to start all over again. When this begins to happen our belief can again be set to the Men of Harlech tune.
