KING  CARL

Hello again. Five weeks on, and what have we got? Another few hundred miles covered, and for what? Three draws and three defeats in the league, and a couple of wins in the Cups. It isn’t very pretty at the moment, and I just hope that it gets better before it’s too late. I don’t want to have to go through last season’s worries and spend the rest of the season scratching around for points in the league, and hope that a Cup run will save the year (or Flynn’s neck). We’re no strangers to disappointment, but we shouldn’t be in the position of going to Burnley to be hammered 5-0 by a team that hasn’t been scoring goals themselves. I don’t know what’s wrong with us at the moment, we’ve got a bigger squad than ever, but I’m not sure that even out of all of those players we’ve got the talent we need. Flynn doesn’t seem to know who his best team is, as all we’ve had is constant chopping and changing of the side for the last two months.

What’s happened to Faulconbridge? When he arrived, he was the golden boy and looked really good up front with Stevens, but now he isn’t even getting on the bench. If you ask me, Flynn should do what he said he would, and get rid of a few players - we don’t need 32 in the squad, particularly as they’re all of the same standard. Just think of the wage bill - £75,000 from Sky for the cup game’s very nice, but it won’t pay the wages for very long. It’s just as well that players like Danny Williams are coming back from injury, we need players that get stuck in for Wrexham - Waynne Philips too, and the sooner the better.

A lot of fans are changing their mind about Flynn this season - I know there are those who reckon he should have gone long ago, but even those who have stuck with him so far are having doubts now. If we can’t do it now, how will we ever get anywhere?

People are getting disillusioned with the club, both the football and the club itself, and more and more are saying it’s time for a change. Maybe that’ll come if Pryce Griffiths sells his shares. He’s doing the right thing in not selling to anyone, he still has the club’s interest at heart. If he does go though, it’ll leave Rhodes and Steve Mackreth as the only board members who aren’t family, and a lot will depend on whoever buys Pryce’s shares. Maybe that’ll be the time for big changes at the club, as Flynn will have lost a friend and the new chairman might want his own people with him. I’m told that Mickey Thomas on Sky came up with another reason as to why the club would gain from Pryce’s shares being sold, relating to Flynn’s long-term contract. I’ve got my own views about all of that, but I’m keeping quiet. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Last time I hoped that I’d have something more cheerful to say. Well, I haven’t really. There’s always next time though, and by next month we might have a big Cup draw and even a win in the league. Let’s hope for better, even if we don’t get it.
