division two

What's going on?
Upsets and odds
WREXHAM 2 MIDDLESBROUGH 1: The famous giant-killers came from behind to upset multi-million pound Boro thanks to goals from Gibson and Ferguson. Both goals had a touch of class about them - Boro just couldnt find a way past the heroic Dearden. A good-natured pitch invasion capped it all off. Wrexham now face Cambridge.
DERBY 0 BURNLEY 1: Burnley were the visitors to Pride Park where an Andy Cooke deflected header was all that separated the teams (apart from two divisions) as another Premiership team crashed out to a Division 2 side. What was more embarrassing was that it wasnt even dubbed a tricky encounter as Derby were at home. Burnley now travel to Coventry.
CAMBRIDGE 2 CRYSTAL PALACE 0: Cambridge are struggling in Division 2 at the moment but their long-ball style was too much for Palace as they won comfortably on a cold Friday night. Cambridge now travel to Wrexham.
WIGAN 0 WOLVES 1: An injury-time header from Carl Robinson ensured Wigans league form didnt gain them a Cup upset. Amazingly, it was Wigans first defeat of this campaign.
PRESTON 2 OLDHAM 1: A Lancashire derby saw PNE come away victorious as Oldham shot themselves in the foot, conceding an early second-half penalty. That made it 2-0 - and when Moilanen fumbled a feeble header it was only consolation for the Latics. Preston will travel to either Reading or Plymouth.
WALSALL 1 GILLINGHAM 1: Going by the form book, it was Walsall who pulled off the shock. A second-half penalty was tucked away by Robins as Walsall came from behind to earn a replay. The winners will face Bradford.
READING 1 PLYMOUTH 1: Its no wonder that Reading fans are planning to throw pants onto the pitch in protest at the teams form because that it is exactly what they are. Despite taking the lead, Reading couldnt hold on. The winners will face Preston.
ARSENAL 3 BLACKPOOL 1: Giles Grimandi gave Arsenal the lead after just over quarter an hour of play. Clarksons surprise equaliser ensured the Tangerines went in all-square at the break. Tony Adams restored the Gunners advantage after 68 minutes and Overmars relieved the Highbury faithful as he sealed it with just a minute remaining.
IN THE LEAGUE: Not much has happened since last time - but heres my odds for Christmas Number One: Preston 3-1; Wigan 5-1; Burnley 10-1; Wrexham ?
