On the KOP... With Matt WedderKOPP

That time has come again when I have to apologise to all those closely associated with the club as I have been accused again of taking too many shots at the players and management (perhaps I should stand on the board of directors next!!). Everybody has to understand I love the club to bits and in no way mean any serious offence to be taken. I am simply writing to entertain. Besides, I usually take the **** out of the opposition. I hope that’s cleared it up now.

So we’re out of the F.A Cup and boy am I surprised (please detect a sarcastic tone in that sentence)! Why is it the lads can play with such passion and skill against teams that should hammer us and lose to teams that don’t deserve to clean King Karl’s boots? Answers on a postcard please. I think that most fans would agree with me when I say that it wasn’t the fact that we got knocked out that hacked so many people off; it was the fact there wasn’t even a tenth of the amount of passion on show as there was against Boro.

Speaking of Man U, didn’t they do well in the World Club Championships? Now, if Wrexham had been there (representing Wales as they are the best club in our hallowed country) it would have been a very different story. I am fed up with all this Man U. hype anyway. Why do they get so much coverage in papers which should be dedicating more space to the Nationwide league clubs? Do the editors of large papers think that fans of non-Premiership clubs don’t read the daily press?

Is it just me that seems to think that King Karl plays better when rumors linking him and other clubs are flying about? I might be wrong, well actually I’m not. I propose we start sending Karl letters from other managers (Arsene Wenger, Alex Ferguson etc) and he’ll carry on playing his magic kind of football. When Connolly is on full form he is a force to be reckoned with and lifts the whole team, providing much needed left sided attacking options.

I know Flynn and co have been wanting to get Ian Stevens back in the team but shouldn’t they introduce him as a sub at first to build him up, instead of throwing him in at the deep end and at the mercy of the fans. This would take a lot of pressure off the Falcon.

Well, today I learn that Celtic have sacked John Barnes (during his first full season). What would they make of Flynn staying for 10 years at WFC? Football is ruthless and so are the supporters and I get the feeling that if any other clubs were in our position the manager would be first to go. As Pryce G says, we can’t afford to replace him. I used to be an avid Flynn fan, but now I am 50-50. I just support the club, as long as we don’t go down this season I will be happy. We shall see what happens in the close season and no doubt Flynnie will find us some free transfers to give us hope. I apologise for that last remark, Barrett looks class when he’s in as do a lot of the youngsters. As soon as Danny W is fit again I think he’ll be back in, he is a passionate player who really gets stuck in, he’s also a fans’ favourite. So I hope to see you out there soon Danny.

I guess that there’ll be a lot of rantings this edition about being humiliated by Wycombe and how there was a bad performance on the pitch but I have to say there wasn’t much going on off the pitch. 2,700 fans there, well I know everyone says Wrexham only has 2,000 loyal supporters and I quite believe it, I know the rugby was on (disgraceful performance wasn’t it) and many would be watching it but if you really support a club (as many people say they do) then you video the rugby and go to the footy. Problem solved.

I’ll close with a final thought: Signing the Trinidad lads could offer us a change and make us a bit less predictable.

Keep the Faith.
