wfc pr - The club and the fans

Well done, Allan Thomas

Firstly this month, a big thank you to Allan Thomas for his feedback to some of our recent comments and queries. His replies to specific queries appeared in the Issue 17 editorial; however we look forward, hopefully to future responses from the club, in relation to suggestions and comments put forward recently. Credit is also due to WFC for at last getting prominently involved in the ‘Kick It Out?’ anti-racism initiative. This organisation has been in operation for several years now and to be honest I don’t feel that Wrexham have embraced it as fully as they might have in the past. David Rhodes has stated in the local press that racism is not a major problem at the Racecourse, and indeed in the Directors Box it probably isn’t. However, if he were to venture onto the Kop he would find that it still exists, albeit to a far lesser degree than in the past. Fortunately the days of mass monkey chanting are long gone, however there are still one or two mindless morons who crawl out of the gutter, especially at big games and still indulge in this activity. Unfortunately those responsible for policing and stewarding this area appear either not to hear those who shout racist remarks at visiting players and officials, or chose to turn a blind eye, as I cannot, in 20 years recall seeing anybody being arrested or ejected from the ground for what is unacceptable in a modern civilised society and is also a criminal offence. Does anyone know what is planned for the old Centre Spot shop on Mold Road, or at least the remaining part of it that hasn’t been demolished. At the moment it is sticking out like a sore thumb and is something of an eyesore on that side of the ground, which otherwise is looking very smart indeed. At the very least a coat of paint wouldn’t go amiss, to at least make the outside of the building look more presentable. In the longer term it would be nice to see if it could be put to some use on matchdays, perhaps as a new home for the programme shop.

It is now Red Passion’s policy to forward copies of this regular PR column to the club in the hope that it may feel able to respond to matters raised. So, the club has just received photocopies of the PR columns published in RP Issues 13-18. Watch this space!
