Im delighted to see that Wrexham are now safe - I was getting just a little bit nervous! Brian hasnt got the greatest squad at his disposal at the moment and hes obviously got very little money; so, I think its an achievement to survive in this division and maybe next year an assault on the play-offs can be mounted. I know that Joey is dead chuffed Wrexham have got themselves out of trouble.
Im really enjoying my media work at the moment. I did a big interview for Sky Sports News the other day and I was at the Everton-Liverpool derby for Century FM the other night. When the Liverpool keepers clearance hit Hutchison on the back and rebounded back into the net, I think it was definitely a goal. I didnt hear the ref blow for full-time. Did you? It was a great atmosphere at Goodison and I did a special live phone-in after the game. I was pleased to see Mark Hughes play so well - I think hes got a great future in the game! Pembridge had a good game as well - so it was an excellent night for Wales. Liverpool werent bad and I think theyll do alright in Europe.
Im looking forward to the summer. Im all lined up to play for Jay Kays Jamiroquai soccer side in a special charity tournament. Each band has got a team. Remember last year I played for Dodgy - very appropriate. Ill also be playing for Chelsea in the Sky-televised Soccer Sixes - cant wait.
Im still pretty involved at Rhyl. Im trying to help the Chairman in any way I can and I hope that the clubs new manager, Brian Kettle, does a great job. Ive heard he blows hot and cold though. Get it? Hes got a decent record in non-league football and my sons got a contract for next season - good news.
Man Uniteds defeat at home to Real Madrid was a big shock for me. The biggest shock of the decision - definitely. My other end-of-season verdicts? Best player Ive seen live? Ginola. Best young player? Kewell. Favourite United players? Keane and Giggs. Best Wrexham player? Gibson. Best moment? Wrexham 2 Middlesbrough 1. Funniest moment? Wrexham 8 Merthyr 0.
Ive had a busy year with all my media work - but I love it. I did the Wales-Finland game and Ill be at the Brazil match too. Ive just interviewed Harry Redknapp for MUTV - he really is a top bloke.
Im glad Gareth Owen has managed to get Man United to come down for his Testimonial game. I played alongside Gareth in the early-90s and I know his qualities. Hes got good ability, hes a decent passer of the ball and with his running he covers a lot of ground. He was excellent in the famous Arsenal and West Ham Cup games. Glad too to see Connolly get a hat-trick at Chesterfield. I think that if Karl had a little more pace hed have everything. Hes a very friendly guy as well and Ive got a lot of respect for him as a footballer. Hes also been very loyal.
Im looking forward to the 8-a-Side soccer tournament at Colliers Park. Me and Joey played for RP last time and we hope to do the same again this year.
Cheers
