Not Very Nice

C.Johnson, We Fear No Foe! A Decade of Following Millwall (Terrace Banter Publications), £8.99

I don't like this book. It's not because it's about Millwall; but rather because it's about a side of football I don't like very much. The blurb on the back cover says: 'Colin Johnson (the author) is a casually dressed white male in his late- twenties, he is not a "football hooligan", just a loyal fan who follows his team home and away.' Fine. But then, if you dip into the book, it's full of bravado, crassness, stuff about the police, stuff about drinking and stuff about violence. Why couldn't he write a book about food at football grounds, or toilets, or his collection of soccer badges?
