Honest Confessions
Full Time: The Secret Life of Tony Cascarino (Simon & Schuster, 2000, £9.99)
Imagine Craig Skinner writing an autobiography; you know, the trials and tribulations of being a fairly average/below average professional footballer, the ups and downs, the secret torments, the friendships you make, the laughs you have, the jibes of the fans etc etc. Well, this Tony Cascarino autobiography is just such a book. It's the fact that TC is such an 'ordinary' footballer and bloke that makes it difficult to put down. The ex-Ireland striker is breathtakingly honest about his own inadequacies and problems. At several points in the book he admits, quite frankly, that he is a very poor footballer and has been extremely lucky to make the living he has done. An excellent book - just because Cascarino is SO honest.
