......on the road......

No.23 - Cambridge

- Journey there? Travelling on an independent
supporters coach, we left the Turf at 9am. On the way there we had a change
from the usual general knowledge quiz. Music from adverts was played over
the radio and we had to name ad and artist.
- The town? We visited a local kebab house for our
customary pre-match meal. We even had time to eat in! We then went to a
shopping centre and had a drink from Burger King.
- Ground? It was quite appropriate when we sang:
'MY GARDEN SHED IS BETTER THAN THIS!' ? Admission? £10/£7. £12/£10 -
seats.
- The game? 2-0 down, Trundle scored a cracking
solo effort to give us a lifeline. Fergie converted his second pen in two
games after Morrell was pushed to level things and then AM made up for his
earlier miss, launching himself at an LT cross to score a diving header in
the very last minute.
- Our fans? Apparently more than we took to
Walsall - 381. They got louder and louder as the game progressed.
- Their fans? Seemed to be booing Trundle and
Fergie and were quite pleased with themselves at 2-0 up.
- Post-match goings-on? We were singing promotion
songs - a long time since we've done that!
- Journey back? The team bus overtook us and we
all shouted 'WREXHAM!' and '3-2 TO THE SHEEP********!' Some of the players
looked quite happy - Gibbo seemed incredibly laid-back, Mel Pejic gave us
two thumbs up, while Carlos seemed quite confused by it all.
