No.24 - Brentford

- Journey there? The coach left at
8.30am, stopping at Cherwell Valley Services along the way, where there were
Notts County and Crewe fans at the same time. We all took part in a general
knowledge quiz on the coach and arrived in Brentford at 1pm.
- The town? We walked around the ground
to find a kebab house and carried on to MacDonalds for an ice cream.
- Ground? Old with two seated pitchside
stands with numerous supports holding up the rooves, an open terrace behind
one goal, and a two-tier away end behind the other, with terracing directly
below the seating. ? Admission? Seating £15/£12; £11 to stand with no
concessions.
- The game? 1-0 to the Bees. LT looked
dangerous at times though he tried to do too much on the ball; Morrell hit
the bar with a header early on and Danny W went close twice in the second
half.
- Our fans? About 300 in all - sounded
loud as the noise echoed off the low roof and walls.
- Their fans? Around 4,000 - very quiet
but there'll be more than that going to the Millennium for the LDV final.
- Post-match goings on? A wait for
everyone to return back from the pubs in each corner of the ground.
- Journey back? We left at 5.30pm and got
back about 9.30 with a quick stop on the way.
