Get You Kit On

Tim Edwards becomes Fashion Correspondent

SEASON 1993/94

Our first season in a higher division was met with high excitement and anticipation among the throbbing ranks of Wrexham supporters. It's a pity the kit makers couldn't provide that same anticipation with the shirts they made for this season. I opted for the white away shirt this time, and to say it was hideous is a gross understatement.

Why I bought it I'll never know - I put it down to a mislead youth! Once again made by EN-S, the shirt had a horribly uncomfortable v-shaped neck, again with the strange check-style red squares adorning it.

The designers decided it would be a great idea to stack the logos (maker, club badge, sponsor) above one another in a vertically-challenged manner. This I could accept; what I found hard to grasp was that the logos were made of plastic. They were horrible to touch, and after a few washes, either faded or some of the words on the 'Wrexham Lager' logo fell off. I remember seeing one fan's kit absolutely trashed only a few games into that season, and instead of his shirt reading 'Wrexham Lager', it read 'ex Lag'! Seven full letters went AWOL in his washing machine, leaving him with a sponsor that would suggest the team were supported by a help group for former incapacitated criminals!

VERDICT: A disgusting cheaply- made shirt, which was similar to wearing a straightjacket during Chinese water torture. 1/10 (the 1 for the club badge) RP
