Season 2001-2002 (so far)
Oldham by Peter Davies
Front cover? Craig F. plus two fairly anonymous Oldham players
Value for money? £2 for 50 pages - OK.
Decent content? Lots of adverts but some neat features.
Attractive design? Highly abstract and modern in places - unlike Boundary Park itself. The cover if luminous card in a Wigan Athletic/JJB kind of way. The programme also smells lovely.
Best article? "Latics Legends" - the one and only Roger Palmer.
Overall? Quite progressive.
Bury by Peter Davies
Front cover? Craig F. (again, for some reason) plus the Bury no.22.
Value for money? £1.50 for non-relevant programme produced for the postponed fixture on New Year's Day - fair, I suppose.
Decent content? All the news was, obviously, out of date. Other than that, some good varied stuff.
Attractive design? Standard - but a nice blue and white feel to everything.
Best article? "Football Shorts" (p.41) - nice selection of soccer triv.
Overall? Not bad considering.
Peterborough by Alun Thomas
Front cover? Dominated by Posh's Farrell celebrating a goal, although Wrexham's club crest is also featured - a nice touch.
Value for money? £2 for 56 pages - definitely.
Decent content? Extremely varied, including better-than-average Wrexham pen-pictures and a complex quiz page. Plus "Game to Remember" Posh Ladies, Posh Old Boys and so on.
Attractive design? Yes, with plenty of colour.
Best article? Physio's Feature. A fascinating page concentrating on the Sartorius muscle (at the front of the pelvis, since you ask) which, when strained, reduces flexibility around the pelvis and lower back. Complete with diagram. A novel and enjoyable article.
Overall? They could use a proof-reader, with our manager down as Denis and Dennis in the same sentence - and on the back page, despite getting Waynne's name right, they've spelt Wrexham wrong! Overall though, most impressive.
