CLICHÉ, CLICHÉ (CONTD)

Dear Red Passion

I would like you to print the first part of this cutting in reply to the scurilous letter from Jonathan Crewe printed in Red Passion No.3. I thought it was disgraceful.

Les Chamberlain is the only one who prints the true feelings of the fans and is certainly in touch with reality. David Lovett gives us all the news from the club and is an original writer.

As for Mark Currie and Nick Hilton in the Daily Post, they are just "Yes" men and write what Brian Flynn and the club want to hear.

As professional journalists I am sure Les and David will treat Crewe’s letter with the contempt it deserves. It’s a wonder they don’t sue him for defamation.

30 years a Wrexham fan.

P.S. Apart from Crewe’s letter, Red Passion is a great fanzine.

MOONLIGHTING MARRIOTT

Dear Red Passion

I thought that you might be interested in seeing the enclosed photo of a cardboard cut-out waiter taken on holiday during the summer. Does anyone notice a resemblence to a certain ex-goalkeeper of ours?

Keep up the good work

All the best

AN ULSTERMAN WHO’S FAST BECOMING AN HONORARY WELSHMAN…

Dear Red Passion

Many thanks for publishing my letter. Once again I must congratulate you on another excellent issue of Red Passion.

I find myself becoming more and more interested in Wrexham F.C. as a result of reading the fanzine, so your comments last time about maybe becoming a Wrexham supporter look as if they might not be far off the mark!

I am in the process of getting some bits and pieces together for you about the football scene in Ulster, which I hope you will enjoy.

In the meantime, if you can find a few snippets on Wrexham and Welsh football in general I would be very pleased to receive them. Also if any Wrexham supporters would like to write to me I’d be delighted to hear from them.

Thank you very much and continued success with Red Passion.

Sincerely

HELLO FROM LINCOLNSHIRE…

Dear Red Passion

Thank you for Issue 3 of Red Passion, excellent reading. We have seen Wrexham twice this season, at Chesterfield and home to Lincoln – two very indifferent games. Let’s hope things get better and they stay in Division . I also spotted the article in the Telegraph.

‘NO RESPECT FOR YOUR STEWARDS’

Dear Red Passion

Bad-Boy Bart here from the Notts County fanzine, No More Pie In The Sky. Firstly, Nuff respect for your excellent jam-packed fanzine. How do you manage to get so much in? You’ll soon be giving Bradford’s City Gent a run for its money on the amount of stuff crammed into one issue.

Onto the game, Wrexham v Notts County (28/11/98). The only consistent factor this season with our gang is one of inconsistency. After last season’s Championship stroll, we did expect a little more than we have been offered so far this term.

Overall, I think we did enough to at least earn a point, but saying that, although we dominated the second period, we never tested your keeper.

If we’d scored one then we would probably have scored again. Kevin ‘Rooster’ Russell did sod all for us in his spell at Meadow Lane and it didn’t surprise me to see him score against us. It’s quite predictable for one of our ex-strikers to come back and haunt us.

No Respect though for your stewards. Firstly, they tried to stop me selling our fanzine at half-time. After arguing my case, they eventually said they’d check with the head steward; by the time they’d returned to give me the OK the second half was underway and they then said that I’d be blocking our supporters’ view of the game!

They also said I couldn’t transfer from the standing area to the seats, even though I had a ticket valid for both areas. It wasn’t as if the away section was packed out with Notts fans! Around 300 at most had made the journey west. So not the most memorable of away daze, but a new fanzine to join the scene is always welcome – keep up the good work and we’ll probably see you again next season.

WOEFUL AT WYCOMBE

Dear Red Passion

Really enjoyed the first issue – plenty to read with some very interesting articles.

Had the misfortune to go to Wycombe. Nearly 24 hours later and I’m still angry at seeing possibly the most gutless and inept performance I have ever seen from a Wrexham team (and I’ve seen a few!!!).

The defence was absolutely woeful and gifted Wycombe two goals. Individual errors happen but what I found most worrying that I felt that more than a few Wrexham players just did not care enough.

There didn’t seem to be much pride in the jersey in evidence last night. I hope the players go on to prove me wrong but I am worried about our fate this season if we turn in many more performances like that.

Hopefully a signing or two will provide some impetus and inspiration – here’s hoping!!

Anyway, rant over. I look forward to seeing the next issue of Red Passion and keep up the good work.

Yours in Wrexham

GREETINGS FROM LONDON

Dear Red Passion

Congratulations on an excellent fanzine! I’ll try and make a contribution to one of the upcoming editions and will let you know if there’s another match report I can do, especially if it’s an under-populated South East fixture!

Cheers

Peter Williams, London

CP SAYS: Much appreciated!
