The
"Carlos Edwards - Son of Pelé" Theory

By James Coverdale and Hywel Lovgreen
Due to Carlos' brilliance this season, we have found ourselves comparing him to Pelé. We did some investigation on links between the two, and this is what we found:
- His all-round greatness.
- Pelé played as a Trinidadian in the movie The Great Escape.
- Pelé just happened to be on holiday in Trinidad nine months before Carlos was born.
- Pelé shagged around - as revealed on Baddiel and Skinner's Fantasy World Cup in 1998.
- Apparently, Pelé was the man behind Carlos' move to Wrexham.
- After expensive and extensive DNA testing, it was proved that both Carlos and Pelé have both got the 'Footballing Genius' gene, which is very rare.
- Pelé has his own camera crew at every game - so he can follow Carlos' progress. The feed is then directed to Pelé's house via Pele's own satellite named 'Carlos 7'.
- Upon Carlos' last birthday, his postman noticed a card - postmarked Brazil - and on the back it said it was from a Mr P.
Ele.
- Hector Sam told a friend who told us that the inside of that card said: 'Happy Birthday Son, Love Dad'.
- Carlos wants to keep it a secret, as he doesn't want to be compared to his old man - Pelé - even though we know he's better.
- Carlos and Pelé have the same size feet.
- Carlos told friends (Hector) that he dedicated his first international cap to Pelé, and told others (Dennis) that he dedicated it to his Dad. The same person?
Result: CARLOS - SON OF PELÉ.
