The World According To

Robert GRESFORD Davies
X, Y and Z are for...
X is for the unknown quantity and is the symbol for endless question marks. For instance, can the Dragons stay in the top-three until the beginning of May and fill the Racecourse with xtasy (that's cheating!)?
X is also for an ugly word - Xenophobia, meaning hatred of those who are different from us. Recent racist behaviour at football matches is to be deplored. The antidote is a word with X in the middle - philoxenia. When respect for difference becomes contagious, bridges are built.
Y is for Years, and a reminder that just five years ago Red Passion was still unborn. Now it will be Yearned for.
It has given expression to the Zeal of our fans, and has sometimes revealed Zero tolerance, but has always remained loyal.
