No.2 – Chris Hyde

Current Home?

The village of Sooke (sometimes spelt "T’souke") on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

What’s it like?

Very nice and very beautiful – when the sun shines!

Paint us a word picture of the place…

Trees – Sea – Mountains – Boats – Sea – Trees

Good things about it?

A good community spirit.

Bad things about it?

There are four pubs – but none of them are very respectable.

What’s the weather like?

Very mild – never too hot and never too cold. It can get very wet in winter.

What’s the local food like?

Much the same as Wales – but lots of locally-caught seafood available.

Why are you there?

My former employer, the Canadian Coast Guard, sent me here.

Are you happy to be there?

Most of the time.

Tell us one bizarre thing about the place you’re exiled in….

Sooke has one set of traffic lights – the southernmost set in western Canada! Wowee!

What are your Wrexham connections?

Relatives, relatives and more relatives.

How often do you get back to see Wrexham?

Not often enough – maybe once every five or six years.

Favourite current player?

Ian Rush – not for his short time with Wrexham but for his great service to the Wales national team.

Favourite Wrexham player of all time?

Joey Jones – closely followed by Aly McGowan and Tommy Bannan.

Earliest Wrexham memory?

Living in a terraced house with a big yard on Poplar Road.

How do you keep in touch with WFC news and results?

Via the Webbed Robin, the Wrexham mailing list and the Robins Review.

What are your current views about Wrexham – the club and the team?

An average Division 2 team that plays in Division 2.

Any thoughts about this season – and the future?

I expect Wrexham to finish in the middle of the league table this season. Unless a rich sugar daddy comes along (like Elton John at Watford or Al Fayed at Fulham), I don’t expect Wrexham to move up to Division 1 anytime soon.
