As you have probably realised, the 1998-99 season didn't go all that well for Wrexham. We had our ups and downs, big wins and defeats, but we came through it and survived in Division Two.

The biggest disaster of the season was the 5-0 defeat against Preston and it was on home ground which made it twice as bad. After that match it went downhill; Mark Cartwright started to lose confidence and the fans started to lose faith. Then Tommy Wright came to Wrexham on loan, things started to look up. The fans got their faith back and Wrexham started to play a lot better. The Stoke game certainly showed what we were made of. Tommy had an excellent game and really deserved his moments of glory.

Although we had our ups and downs with Mark Cartwright (Wigan), we must remember those games in which he helped us to a victory or a well deserved draw - Manchester City, for instance. The performance against City both home and away was outstanding. The whole team played well and even though we lost to City at home we played incredibly well to make sure we didn't get a thrashing.

Throughout the season we played a lot better away from the Racecourse. If you ask me, the new stand is a jinx (only joking Mr Griffiths)
