Wrexham legend attends beer launch
01/06/06
Fans favourite Gary Bennett is looking forward to attending the Launch Party for the new Lager that has been named after him on Saturday June 10th.
Wrexham Supporters Trust and the Jolly Brewer Microbrewery have combined to produce 2 new beers, one is named “Benno” after the 90s goal machine and the other one is named “Tommy” after Wrexhams greatest ever centre forward Tommy Bamford.
Gary Bennett stated,
“Its quite something to have a beer named after you and I am absolutely chuffed to be honoured in the same way as the late Tommy Bamford.
I am told that the lager packs a real kick but being named after me you wouldn’t expect it to be Holy water!
I am really looking forward to coming back to Wrexham for the beer launch. Everybody should be on a real high after the events of this week and lets hope that this is the start of better days for Wrexham. I said at the meeting held at Newi a few weeks ago that this club has the potential to play at a far higher level than this and now we all need to work together to make that happen.”
WST secretary Lindsay Jones stated,
“We are delighted that Gary can make the
launch and we have also invited relatives of
the late Tommy Bamford as well. We are extremely grateful to Irving Pryce
and his team at the Lager Club for allowing us to use their premises for the
day. We have had a huge amount of interest shown in the Launch of the lagers
and there will actually be an ITV documentary team filming there on the day.
There are a few tickets still available from the club shop, online at
wst.org.co.uk and the Jolly Brewer stall in the Butchers Market.”
The Launch Party has been timed to coincide with the first Saturday of the World Cup and kicks off at 12.30 on Saturday June 10th.
The WST lagers will go on open sale around the area on June 17th. Any pubs wishing to stock them should contact Peni Coles on 01978 261884.

Note,
1.The Tommy labels are in blue as Wrexham actually played in blue when Tommy was banging in the goals.
