THE
Wrexham Supporters Trust is investigating ways to offer support to the club’s
Centre of Excellence following relegation to the Blue Square Premier.
The Dragons’ Centre of Excellence is recognised for its superb work developing
youngsters and has produced many players for both Wrexham and Wales.
However, since relegation from the Football League last month, the Centre of
Excellence is threatened by significant cuts in its funding.
The Trust is aware of the threat and will be discussing practical ways in which
they can support Centre of Excellence chief Steve Cooper in helping to develop
the next batch of youngsters.
The WST is also hoping that the Welsh FA and other organisations can look into
ways in which they can help the funding shortfall.
A Trust spokesman said: “Relegation to the Blue Square Premier has hit Wrexham
followers hard and the WST are anticipating that a few more supporters might
well be attracted to join the Trust’s campaign to raise funds.
“The Trust hope to eventually gain an equity interest in the club.
“The whole of North Wales has been shocked by Wrexham losing its League status
and Trust members feel they can play a key part in helping the club regain its
rightful place in The Football League.”
The Trust is holding its AGM next month at the Centenary Club at the Racecourse
Ground on Thursday, June 12 (7.30pm) and any members who wish to place
resolutions on the agenda have until this Friday to submit them to the Trust
secretary.
Members wishing to be nominated for membership of the Trust board need to submit
their intentions to stand to the secretary by the same date.
Nominations can be sent to
secretary@wst.org.uk or with signatures of the proposer and seconder to
Secretary, WST, PO Box 2200, Wrexham, LL12 9WG.
