FLYNN is relishing his Racecourse return as his in-form Wales under 21s prepare
to host England in Wrexham on Thursday night.
"I'm really excited and I'm really
looking forward to it," said Flynn, who took a training session in the heat at
Colliers Park yesterday evening. "It's mouth-watering when you play England in
any sport and if you look at the names in the England team, every single one of
them will be a Premier League player.
"So it'll be interesting to see how we pit our wits against the best England can
produce."
Cardiff City's Joe Ledley, Darcy Blake, Aaron Ramsey and Jonathan Brown have not
been called up because of the Bluebirds' FA Cup final date at Wembley.
But such is Wales' strength in depth in the under 21 department, Flynn can call
on Wolves duo Wayne Hennessey and David Edwards, defending trio Lewin Nyatanga,
Neal Eardley and Chris Gunter and Wigan forward David Cotterill.
"The strength in depth we've got now at under-21 level is very good," said
Flynn, whose team will celebrate their 100th international match since their
first game against England in 1976.
Meanwhile, Shrewsbury will receive around £500,000 if Manchester City goalkeeper
Joe Hart makes his England debut against USA later this month.
The 21-year-old moved to Eastlands in 2006 from the League Two side and one of
the clauses in the deal will be triggered if he caps off his breakthrough season
by playing for his country.
England boss Fabio Capello has Hart, David James and Chris Kirkland to choose
from for the friendly at Wembley on May 28 and the trip to Trinidad and Tobago
for the clash on the following Sunday.
Hart is still in the squad for the under-21s against Wales later this week,
along with David Wheater, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Theo Walcott, who are all also
in the seniors.
An executive box, priced at £250, is available for the game. Anyone interested should contact Phil Sadler on 01978 296398.
