Ellison staying put

28 March 2008

Kevin EllisonCHESTER CITY owner Stephen Vaughan today confirmed the Blues had received a number of approaches for leading marksman, Kevin Ellison.

Vaughan said: "The loan transfer deadline has been and gone. There had been a lot of speculation surrounding Kevin Ellison's future.

"A number of approaches had been made including inquiries from Wrexham and Darlington. But Kevin Ellison is contracted to Chester City until 2010 and that is the end of the matter."

Ellison, who has scored 10 goals for Chester so far this term, had been linked earlier this season with a move to his former club, Stockport County.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder rated himself as a doubt to start for the Blues at home to Stockport County tomorrow, saying: "I would rate myself as 50-50 to be fit in time for tomorrow because I have hyper-extended my knee.

"And as far as me leaving Chester is concerned I can honestly say that I had no intention of leaving.

"I had heard whispers that I was on my way to Wrexham, but why would I join a club that couldn't guarantee me action in the Football League next season?"
